The overview
This new contract marks nearly a year after Roher was approved in a contract on July 22, 2024 to serve as superintendent until July 31, 2027, Community Impact previously reported.
While it was not relayed if Roher will earn a new salary, his base pay was just over $228,350 for the 2024-25 school year, according to the Texas Education Agency.
Since he began as superintendent in the 2017-18 school year, in which he made $196,400, Roher’s base pay has risen by over 16% according to the TEA.
A closer look
Roher is an FISD alum, graduating from Friendswood High School in 1986, according to district documents.
He graduated from Barclay College in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and earned his master’s degree in education administration from Fort Hays State University in 1995.
Before becoming superintendent, Roher was a kindergarten through 12th grade principal in Haviland, Kansas, and returned to FISD as an assistant principal at FHS.
He later became an assistant superintendent of curriculum for both elementary and secondary education and then served as deputy superintendent before taking on his role as superintendent in 2017, according to district documents.
