With 88 percent of precincts reporting, Steven Smith is projected to get reelected to the Klein ISD board of trustees, receiving nearly 75.3 percent of votes against opponent Lannie Milon, Jr.
Smith is ahead in the race with 19,340 total votes compared to Milon's 6,354. He said he looked at the term he just completed as the foundation for another effective three years of service.
"One of the biggest challenges we have to meet is the changing demographics of the district," Smith said. "It reflects what's going on in the state. We have an increasing number of Hispanics and also an increasing number of disadvantage kids. Those are the two trends we see."
