“We have everything in the store—any materials you’re looking for—and we do the remodeling,” Adriana Disevo said.
The history
Sergio Disevo opened his first remodeling business, Pride Quality Remodelers, in New York City in 1988, Adriana Disevo said. The couple later moved to Florida and finally opened Unique Showroom in the Houston area in 2010.
“My husband was always in construction,” Adriana Disevo said. “He did plumbing, he built homes, he built parking lots. So for him [construction] was, you know, his thing. ... He never did anything else.”
Unique Showroom now serves Porter, Kingwood, New Caney, Humble and Atascocita, as well as the Spring, Heights and The Woodlands area on occasion.
How it works
The approximately 4,000-square-foot showroom allows customers to examine kitchen, bathroom and flooring materials and fixtures in person.
After Unique Showroom staff visits a customer’s home, takes measurements, discusses ideas and puts together a proposal for the customer, the customer visits the showroom.
“That’s when really everything comes together,” Adriana Disevo said. “They love the idea that they can just see a tile, see a cabinet door, carpet, backsplashes, countertops. They can see everything they need for that kitchen or that bathroom without going all over town.”
Then, after the customer signs a contract, Unique Showroom starts the remodeling process, she said.
The local impact
Adriana Disevo said that many of Unique Showroom’s customers learn about the business via referrals from previous customers.
“When people come here, they know who they are coming to see,” she said. “It’s not their first time that they hear about us. ... They hear from the neighbors, from the family, someone always knows us.”
Adriana Disevo said the business takes a thorough, customer-focused approach to the remodeling process.
“When people do this type of remodeling, they do it for a long time, so it has to be perfect,” she said. “It’s been Sergio’s No. 1 thing—listen to the customers and the details on what they want. Don’t just say, ‘Oh well, it looks OK. Let’s just move on.’ ... If it’s not perfect, it’s not perfect.”
