Montgomery County Animal Shelter
The Montgomery County Animal Shelter helps with animal care and placement in Montgomery County. The shelter cares for hundreds of dogs and cats by providing services such as neutering and microchipping while holding animals until they can be placed in a new home.

Founding director and chairman Rachel Wagner said the Lake Houston area-based animal welfare organization is always in need of volunteers. The nonprofit rescues, rehabilitates and finds forever homes for animals in need.

New Caney New Horizons
The New Caney-based nonprofit helps individuals with disabilities gain independence through pre-vocational training, functional life skills, employment, special olympics and transportation. Executive Director Darbie Lindsey said the nonprofit offers a number of volunteer opportunities to assist with Resale Shop operations or horticulture program activities.

The nonprofit creates inclusive opportunities for people with disabilities and works in partnerships to empower youth and their families to build brighter futures. Executive Director Jessica Morales said the organization relies on volunteers to fulfill its mission and there are many ways to have an impact on a Villager’s life.

East Montgomery County Senior Center
The EMC Senior Center hosts senior citizens over the age of 60 for daily activities and meals provided by Meals on Wheels Montgomery County. Activities offered vary from fitness classes to bingo and crafts.

This litter abatement program offers Montgomery County residents the opportunity to become active in reducing the tax dollars spent to clean county roadways. An interested organization or group must qualify and contract with Montgomery County for yearly increments of at least one year to clean a designated stretch of roadway. The participating organization or group is asked to clean their designated roadway at least once every three months. The organization coordinates clean-up times with Precinct 4 and the necessary equipment including safety vests and trash bags are provided.

New Caney ISD
The school district works with volunteers at its various campuses, and the volunteer program’s purpose is to enrich students’ education. Volunteers must submit an application and pass a background check before working on campus. Applications must be resubmitted prior to each school year.

The Montgomery County Food Bank
The food bank receives, packages, and purposefully distributes nutritious food to hungry children, seniors, and families through a network of 90+ partner agencies.

Noah's Give-A-Gift
Noah’s Give-A-Gift leaders select a school with high rates of students coming from low-income families and donate resources to help. Lindsay and Nicholas Carthen founded the organization in honor of their son, Noah Martin Carthen, who died Dec. 10, 2018, at 20 months old. This year, New Caney ISD’s Oakley Elementary has been selected to be the recipient, and clothing and Christmas toys will be donated to students.

Montgomery County Youth Services strengthens the emotional and mental health development of youth and families by providing crisis intervention, counseling, and suicide prevention services. The organization provides a safe and nurturing home where abused, battered, sex-trafficked, homeless, and at-risk youth begin healing from the past and become empowered for the future.
