The Greater East Montgomery County Chamber was recognized for 35 years of operation during the May 13 Montgomery County Commissioners Court meeting.

Founded in 1990, the GEMCC focuses on providing networking and collaboration opportunities among business owners in New Caney, Porter, Splendora and beyond. Mark Linabury—who became the chamber's president and CEO in 2019—accepted a proclamation of recognition from Precinct 4 Commissioner Matt Gray during the May 13 meeting.

"You have changed and transformed the chamber in the six years you've been there," Gray said to Linabury following the proclamation. "These guys do a fantastic job, and the chamber has done so much for East Montgomery County, arguably the fastest growing precinct in the state of Texas, maybe even the country."

Linabury noted the chamber would officially mark its 35th anniversary this summer with plans to celebrate throughout the entire year.
