What residents need to know
The two projects aim to enhance the availability of local amenities and senior services in Precinct 4, Gray said during the meeting. The first project—funded by a $5,000 grant from Entergy Texas—will help purchase supplies and expand the health and wellness programs at the senior center, which serves around 200 seniors in Precinct 4 on a weekly basis.
"Entergy is such a good partner, and we've got some really good liaisons over in Precinct 4 that work with us and help us on these grants. They're a huge help when we have storms. We're T-minus a few days away from being active in open hurricane season. So it's good to have partners like those guys when you're in the thick of it," Gray said.
What else?
Commissioners also approved the $50,000 purchase of 12 acres of land located at 23790 Park Drive in New Caney. The purchase was made on behalf of the East Montgomery County Sports Association to allow for expansion of public recreational programs offered by the EMCSA.
"In the past couple of years we've made tremendous investments into the parks and recreation in Precinct 4 for the families that live there, and this will just be another benefit for that side of the county," Gray said.
