As early voting begins Oct. 20, here is everything voters in the New Caney and Porter area need to know ahead of the Nov. 4 election.

What residents should know

For the upcoming election, voters should note the following dates:
  • Oct. 20: First day of early voting
  • Oct. 24: Last day to apply for ballot by mail (received, not postmarked)
  • Oct. 31: Last day of early voting
  • Nov. 4: Election Day and the last day to receive ballot by mail (or Nov. 5 if carrier envelope is postmarked by 7 p.m. at location of election)
Voters must vote in the county where they are registered. In Montgomery County, voters can cast their ballots at any polling location during early voting. However, on Election Day, voters in Montgomery County must vote at their designated voting precincts. Visit https://elections.mctx.org for polling locations.

What else?

In November, voters across the state will have the opportunity to weigh in on 17 proposed state constitutional amendments, as previously reported by Community Impact. The amendments center around issues such as property tax reduction and funding water supply projects.


Roman Forest City Council

Roman Forest will hold two contested races in the Nov. 4 City Council election, as previously reported.

The following candidates have filed to run for Position 2:
  • Incumbent Chris Ellis
  • Linda Stewart
  • David Mullane
The following candidates have filed to run for Position 4:
  • Incumbent Greg Partin
  • Ricky Warwick
New Caney ISD board of trustees

Five newcomers will run for the NCISD board of trustees Position 7 seat in November’s election, while the sitting trustee in Position 6 is currently unopposed.


Candidates running for Position 7 are:
  • Larry Buford
  • Kristina Haggard
  • David Hagler
  • Gretta Rogne
  • Stacey Kiki Shipley
Incumbent Beth Prykryl did not submit an application to run for reelection.
