During the NCISD trustees’ regular Oct. 20 meeting, the board unanimously agreed—with board President Creg Mixon, Assistant Secretary Angela Tompkins and trustee Beth Prykryl absent—to allow district leaders to finalize a construction contract for project upgrades for the operations and transportation buildings.
Houston-based company Gamma Construction was selected to build the facility, district officials said Oct. 20.

The cost of the project was initially estimated to be $40 million combined, but the price has been reduced by combining the facilities into one, said Scott Powers, NCISD’s executive director of public relations, via an Oct. 30 email.
Construction on the new facilities is slated to begin in November and wrap by February 2027, Powers said. The new facility will be located at 21026 Loop 494, New Caney, which is the current site for NCISD’s Transportation Department.
How we got here
The new operations and transportation building is funded by the district's $695 million bond package, which voters approved in May 2023, as previously reported by Community Impact.
