Construction on the second phase of an expansion project for New Caney ISD's West Fork High School in Kingwood is expected to wrap up this summer, said Scott Powers, NCISD’s executive director of public relations, in a May 30 email.

Phase 2—which is expected to cost $76 million—will consist of a 180,000-square-foot expansion of the campus, according to the email. More classrooms and learning spaces will be added, raising student capacity to about 2,250.

WFHS will also undergo a third phase of renovations, which is slated to be completed by August 2026. This $6.4 million project will add a multipurpose, covered practice facility to the campus.

Phase 1 of the WFHS project wrapped up in 2022 and created a student capacity of 1,500 students. All three project phases are funded under NCISD's $695 million bond package, which was approved by voters in May 2023.
