What’s new
Gamma Construction was selected for the administration building’s construction contract in a unanimous vote by trustees—with board President Creg Mixon and Assistant Secretary Angela Tompkins absent. Gamma Construction is based in Houston—according to the business’s website—and has been used by NCISD for other projects, including a $21 million athletics facility planned for New Caney High School.
District leaders took bids for the contract during the week of June 9, receiving offers from 10 interested companies, said Richard Ressler, director of facilities and planning for NCISD, before the vote.
“We're rocking and rolling and excited to hopefully get another project off the ground,” Ressler said.
The framework
Construction on the new administration building is expected to begin in July and wrap up by December 2026, as previously reported by Community Impact. The 135,000-square-foot building will include work spaces for the district’s various administration departments, including:
- Instructional services
- Human resources
- Student services
- Communications
- Finance
- Training and professional development
Some context
The new administration building will be funded under NCISD’s $695 million bond package, which was approved by voters in May 2023.
