The Splendora ISD Education Foundation is doubling the amount of grant funding doled out to Splendora ISD educators beginning in the 2025–26 school year, officials announced in a May 15 news release.

According to the news release, individual classroom grants will double from $1,000 to $2,000, and team grants will increase from $3,000 to $6,000.

Katie Key, executive director of the foundation, said the increase reflects the foundation’s commitment to enhancing student learning through innovative programs and projects.

“We’re proud to invest even more directly into our classrooms,” Key said in a statement. “This increase will allow teachers and teams to dream bigger and bring even more creative, impactful learning experiences to our students.”



Some context

The foundation was founded in 2017 to provide SISD teachers and teams with resources that enrich and expand educational opportunities for students, according to nonprofit's website. Grant categories include:

  • Technology integration
  • Science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics—or STEAM—education
  • Literacy initiatives
  • Arts and culture
  • Career preparation
  • Special education

In the 2024-25 school year, the foundation awarded roughly $34,000 to 463 teachers and aides affecting more than 5,600 students.

SISD officials said the grant application window for the 2025-26 school year will open Aug. 20. Applications will be due by Sept. 26, with awards announced in November.
