From a new sushi spot to a rebranded Mexican birria locale, read these six dining updates across the Greater Houston area, including restaurants that recently opened or are coming soon, as reported by Community Impact.

La Cocina de TJ specializes in birria, a traditional Mexican dish made with either goat meat, beef or lamb. The restaurant offers classic Mexican staples such as street tacos and burritos, as well as more unique dishes.

Houston-based pizza restaurant A2Z Pizza announced the grand opening of its second location, which will serve the Cypress area. The restaurant specializes in classic and loaded pizzas such as pepperoni, Philly cheesesteak and chicken bacon ranch pizzas.

Etienna’s Eatery is now offering Southern cuisine with a twist of modern comfort food in Brookshire. There are several entree options, including oxtails, smothered pork chops, meatloaf, catfish and salmon.

Following a soft opening in late November, Italiano's Restaurant officially opened in New Caney on Dec. 1. The Italian restaurant offers a menu of chicken, veal and seafood dishes as well as pizza, pasta, calzones, soups and salads.

A father-daughter duo is set to bring Italian-style family recipes to Katy with the opening of Nonno’s Kitchen early next year. The menu features a variety of Italian favorites, including specialty pizzas, pastas and salads.
Emily joined Community Impact in August 2021 and is a general assignment reporter for the northern Greater Houston area. Previously, Emily worked for a small-town newspaper in El Campo, Texas, for two years. Before that, she interned and freelanced for the Houston Chronicle and worked as a freelance photographer and writer in the Houston area. A controversial fact about Emily is that she prefers sugar cookies over chocolate chip cookies. She graduated with a print journalism degree from the University of Houston in 2018.
