Each of New Caney ISD's high school theater departments will present musicals in January. Porter High School will present "Chicago."Mahjong

Every Friday morning, the R.B. Tullis Library hosts a game of Mahjong in the large meeting room. The event is geared toward participants age 19 and olderRockin’ & Rollin’ 50s Purse Bingo

Attendees can support the Hope Cancer Retreat's mission at this 1950s-themed purse bingo event featuring awards for the best costume and best-decorated table. There will be food trucks on-site, and outside food and drinks are allowed.

Gumbo Cook-off


Head to Final Gravity Brewpub and compete to see whose gumbo reigns supreme. A minimum of one gallon of gumbo is required, and any style of gumbo is welcome. Gumbo entries will be judged on flavor, appearance and overall impression, with the winner earning a cash prize. Final Gravity Brewpub will provide the taster cups, spoons and napkins, while cooks will need to bring their own serving ware.Jovanna Aguilar contributed to this report.
