A project to upgrade traffic lights at three Humble-area intersections kicked off May 22 after Humble City Council approved $69,800 for engineering services.

What’s happening?

According to May 22 council meeting documents, the project will target “outdated and deteriorating equipment” at the Humble intersections of:
  • South Houston Avenue and Isaacks Road
  • North Houston Avenue and Townsen Boulevard
  • West Townsen Boulevard and Walmart Entrance Drive
Improvements will include added radar detection systems and battery backup units, according to meeting documents.

A timeline for this project has not yet been announced.

The cost

The construction budget for the renovations is $225,000, or $75,000 per intersection, per meeting documents. Engineering and construction phase services costs are not included in the construction budget totals.

ARKK Engineers was selected to provide services for the project throughout the design, bid and construction phases, according to meeting documents.

The $69,800 engineering expenditure was budgeted in the city’s fiscal year 2024-25 budget, City Manager Jason Stuebe said May 22.
