Partnership Lake Houston officials have selected Ray Hernandez to serve as the chamber of commerce and economic development firm's new president and CEO, according to a July 19 news release.

Hernandez was selected for the role following the departure of former president and CEO Kyle Sheldon in March.

“I am honored to join Partnership Lake Houston and look forward to working with the board of directors, staff and the entire community to drive economic growth, enhance member value and create a thriving business environment in the Greater Lake Houston area,” Hernandez said in a statement.

A closer look


Hernandez is joining Partnership Lake Houston following stints as president and CEO of four chambers, including the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Kyle Area Chamber of Commerce, Lewisville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Huntsville Walker County Chamber of Commerce.

While serving in his most recent position as president and CEO of the Huntsville Walker County Chamber of Commerce, the chamber boasted a 40% increase in gross revenue over the course of five years, according to the release.

Hernandez was also instrumental in helping oversee the passage of Huntsville ISD’s $127 million bond election in 2021—the largest bond package approved by voters in the area in 23 years—per the release.

Hernandez, a U.S. Army veteran, graduated from Texas State University with a degree in applied sociology. He has received an Institute for Organizational Management certification from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, an Economic Development certification from Texas A&M University and leadership development training from the University of Texas-Austin LBJ School of Public Affairs.
