Editor's note: This story has been corrected to clarify that Humble City Council has not yet adopted the city's fiscal year 2025-26 property tax rate. The tax rate will be considered for approval on Sept. 25.

On Sept. 11, Humble City Council approved its fiscal year 2025-26 budget with a proposed property tax rate that is lower than the previous year’s rate. However, with home values increasing 2% year over year, residents may still see a slight increase on their tax bill, meeting documents show.

The breakdown

Humble’s proposed total property tax rate for FY 2025-26 is $0.258171 per $100 valuation, City Manager Jason Stuebe said Sept. 11. For FY 2024-25, the city’s total property tax rate was $0.261476 per $100 valuation, according to Sept. 11 meeting documents.

Although this year's proposed rate is lower than last year's approved rate, taxpayers will likely pay more in taxes because the value of homes has increased, according to Sept. 11 budget documents. Humble’s median home value increased 2% year over year to $129,187, so local property taxes will cost $330.71 annually for homes of that value in FY 2025-26—an 0.85% increase year over year.
