The Kingwood Farmers Market is now under the management of JG Events, officials announced in a Dec. 28 news release.

Meet the owners

Previously managed by the Austin family, the Kingwood Farmers Market will now be managed JG Events, which is owned by the Wertman family. Led by husband and wife Tim and Krystal Wertman and their daughter Kelsey, the company manages and oversees a range of local events including Kingwood's annual In A Pickle Festival.

Last year, JG Events began managing the Lake Houston Farmers Market last year, as well as the core events in Kingwood's Town Center Park, as previously reported by Community Impact.

The Wertmans said they have extensive farmers market experience as longtime vendors as The Jelly Girl. The family also opened a specialty grocery store in Old Town Spring in October dubbed In a Pickle Co.

"I began my small business journey as a vendor at this very market when it first opened nearly 16 years ago," Krystal Wertman said in the release. "This market helped shape our family, our business and our love for community. Stepping into this role doesn't feel like a change—it feels like coming home."

What's changing?

Per the release, the Kingwood Farmers Market will continue to be held every Thursday from 2-6 p.m. and on the first Sunday of the month from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The market is held rain or shine in Kingwood Town Center Park, located at 8 N. Main St., Kingwood.

The Wertmans noted the market will remain committed to the vendors and atmosphere the Kingwood community has come to know and love, while also welcoming "fresh new ideas, new products and renewed energy."
