What residents should know
For the upcoming election, voters should note the following dates:
- Oct. 20: First day of early voting
- Oct. 24: Last day to apply for ballot by mail (received, not postmarked)
- Oct. 31: Last day of early voting
- Nov. 4: Election Day and the last day to receive ballot by mail (or Nov. 5 if carrier envelope is postmarked by 7 p.m. at location of election)
What else?
In November, voters across the state will have the opportunity to weigh in on 17 proposed state constitutional amendments, as previously reported by Community Impact. The amendments center around issues such as property tax reduction and funding water supply projects.

Additionally, 16 candidates—including five Republicans, seven Democrats, three Independent candidates and one Green Party candidate—are running for U.S. Representative District 18. District 18 covers portions of southwest and northeast Houston.
As previously reported by Community Impact, a special election is being held to fill the vacant seat after incumbent Sylvester Turner, who also previously served as Houston mayor, died in March.
Some residents in the Lake Houston area, including Kingwood residents, will also vote in Houston City Council’s race for the council's at-large Position 4 seat. Fifteen candidates are set to appear on the ballot.
Letitia Plummer previously held the seat but resigned her position in July to run for the Harris County judge position. She served on Houston City Council for five years.
