New Caney ISD trustees approved a new compensation package for teachers for the 2022-23 school year at their April 18 meeting that will include a $2,000 stipend for all district employees. (Kelly Schafler/Community Impact Newspaper)

New Caney ISD trustees at their April 18 meeting approved an employee compensation package for the 2022-23 school year that will include a one-time $2,000 stipend for all employees.

Additionally, all returning employees will receive a second stipend, though the financial amount of that stipend has yet to be determined, according to Scott Powers, executive director of public relations for NCISD.


Powers noted each stipend will be paid out in two installments during the 2022-23 school year.

According to the 2022-23 compensation plan, which can be viewed on the district’s website, the starting salary for new teachers will remain consistent with last year’s rate of $59,000.

Powers noted it remains unclear when the monetary amount of the additional stipend for returning employees will be determined, though he said it could be after the budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year is approved in August.
