Quote of note

“This groundbreaking is monumental in the next phase for The Highlands and will serve as the center of the community, creating connection, memories and fun for Highlands families for decades to come,” Caldwell Communities President Peter Barnhart said in a statement. “Based on the success of our Towne Lake Lakehouse and waterpark amenities, we know how heavily desired and popular these activities and amenities are for families, which is why we decided to bring them on board next summer for The Highlands. We’ve expanded upon and tweaked our offerings to deliver best in class amenities that are fun for the whole family.”

Other projects

The Highlands community has 300 residents with an expected influx of 150 more in the coming year, per the release.

To address the growing population and meet the needs of new families moving in, New Caney ISD is constructing a new on-site elementary school to be named Highlands Elementary School, which is set to open in fall 2025. The Highland Pines Golf Club clubhouse is also on track to open in early 2024, according to Caldwell Communities.
