A 17,600-square-foot retail center dubbed The Centre on Gene Campbell is under construction along with a convenience store, according to Kelley Mattlage, the chief communications officer for the East Montgomery County Improvement District. Located at the corner of Gene Campbell Boulevard and East Industrial Parkway in New Caney, work on these projects began Sept. 28. Upon completion, the retail center will house a variety of businesses, including dining and day care options, according to the EMCID. As of press time, a name or brand for the convenience store had not been announced nor have anticipated completion dates for either of the projects. 281-354-4419.
