With over 27 years of experience offering fertilization services in Kingwood through his parents’ company, Greg Bennet said he witnessed firsthand the damage traditional lawn chemicals can cause to the environment.
In 2022, Greg—along with his wife, Aimee Bennet, and their son, Jake Bennet—decided to join forces and start their own fertilizing business to offer a more holistic and environmentally friendly approach.
Founded as Kingwood Fertilizing, the company rebranded to Thrive Fertilizing in January and expanded from Kingwood to serve the northeast Houston communities of Humble, Porter, New Caney and Oakhurst as well as central Houston neighborhoods including Oak Forest, Spring Branch, Bellaire, The Galleria and Memorial.
What's special about it?
With a focus on creating natural fertilizers from organic inputs and avoiding harmful chemicals, the Bennets said Thrive Fertilizing is dedicated to growing healthy lawns while supporting a more sustainable environment.
“We're taking raw materials that are from Mother Nature and putting them back into soils that people may naturally not have at their house,” Jake Bennet said.
Along with promoting water-wise lawn care and natural fertilizer, Aimee Bennet said a big part of Thrive Fertilizing is to ensure their products are safe for pets and humans.

Jake Bennet said conventional fertilizing companies who use lawn chemicals are required to wear protective clothing or hazmat suits due to the highly concentrated chemicals. In addition, customers are asked to avoid their lawns for up to 48 hours to avoid exposure to toxic chemicals. By contrast, Thrive Fertilizing provides fertilizers that are safe for its customers, pets and applicators alike and don't require extra precautions.
“Everything we put down, we make in-house, and it's safe for pets and it's safe for us as applicators,” Jake Bennet said.
What else?
In addition to providing environmentally friendly fertilizer, Greg Bennet said Thrive Fertilizing prides itself in its ability to educate the community. While fertilizer is an essential component for a healthy lawn, Greg Bennet said lawns should be consistently maintained to avoid issues such as weeds, which can be indicators of an unhealthy lawn.
As far as providing water-wise care, Thrive Fertilizing provides components needed to maintain a healthy lawn without the need for excess water.

“A lot of the inputs that we put down actually break up soil compaction, similar to mechanical aeration. We do it via liquid, so that liquid breaks up soil compaction,” Jake Bennet said. “So every time we get rain, getting those nutrients to stay on the property, creates a holding capacity for water and nutrients.”
While offering a natural effective approach to fertilizing, the Bennets said their mission is to personally serve each customer's needs and to maintain a mutually beneficial relationship.
