HTX Surf, a simulated surfing experience from Beach Street Development, is coming to Houston's master-planned community Generation Park in fall 2024, officials announced in an Oct. 11 news release.

Located at 250 Assay St., Houston, HTX Surf will use Wavegarden Cove technology to create customizable, ocean-like waves to simulate a surfing experience that can be tailored to different skill levels.

Construction is slated to begin in early 2023, according to the news release.

Officials said the 6-acre surf lagoon can accommodate up to 70 surfers per hour and will allow beginner and advanced surfers to simultaneously surf in different areas of the lagoon. HTX Surf will also feature a large beach for spectators to watch the action. Additionally, the surf lagoon will offer training programs aimed at helping guests learn how to surf and improve their skills.

Ryan McCord—president of McCord Development, the owner of Generation Park—touted the upcoming project.

"We're thrilled to welcome this innovative, world-class surfing destination to Generation Park,” McCord said in a news release. “Such a unique amenity is a great asset for Houston and will attract a wide range of personalities—from professional surfers, amateur boarders, families, and corporate groups, among others.”

Officials said the surf lagoon will be complimented by food and beverage offerings, including a waterfront hospitality concept overlooking the surf area. Additional amenities will include a private members club, hot tubs, firepits, a swimming pool, beach areas, a skateboard pump track, and an event lawn for bands and festivals.
