Houston Transtar, announced opening dates for roads that were
flooded late last month by overflow from the Addicks and Barker reservoirs after rainfall from Tropical Storm Harvey.
The affected roadways include sections of Clay, Patterson and South Barker Cypress roads; and North Eldridge and Westheimer parkways, which intersect or border the reservoirs. See when these streets are expected to open in the map below.
In addition, Beltway 8 in Houston
reopened in both directions Sunday, although roadwork is still underway for the highway's southbound lanes. Beltway 8's southbound ramp to Memorial Drive also remains closed until next week.
Meanwhile, the Greater Houston area's toll roads are resuming fees this week. The Harris County Toll Road Authority waived tolls from Aug. 27 to Sept. 12, except on Beltway 8 between Hwy. 290 and Hwy. 59. The Texas Department of Transportation will resume tolls Thursday, and the Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority waived tolls from Sept. 1-14.
For drivers using rental or new cars after tolls resume, HCTRA recommended those with existing EZ TAG accounts add their current vehicle license plate to avoid receiving a bill in the mail. Temporary vehicles can be added online via the “EZ Plate” feature, which eliminates the need for the EZ TAG on the windshield on HCTRA roads only.
