The filing period is open for residents who hope to be elected in May to serve as a member of the Katy City Council.

Filing for the May 1 election opened Jan. 13 and will close Feb. 12. Katy voters will elect council members for wards A and B for three-year terms.

To date, Diane Robichaux Walker and Dan Smith have filed to run for Ward A, according to City Secretary Becky McGrew.

Council Member William "Dusty" Thiele, who was appointed in November to fill a vacancy in Ward A, has not filed for re-election thus far, McGrew said.

Incumbent Ward B Council Member Jenifer Jordan Stockdick has filed for re-election, McGrew said. As of Jan. 22, she is unopposed.

Early voting for the election will run from April 19-27, according to the Texas secretary of state’s office.
