Lightbridge Academy, an early education and child care franchise for children ages six weeks through kindergarten, will touch down in Katy as its first stop on a Texas expansion, per an April 10 news release from NewQuest Properties.

The child care center leased a 9,282 square-foot space at the Shops at Katy Reserve, located at the crossroads of FM 1463 and Spring Green Boulevard in Katy. NewQuest Broker Associate Lara Lee LaMendola said the franchise will open its first Texas location this summer.

According to the release, the driving force behind the business coming to Katy was the surrounding neighborhood—a collection of master-planned residential communities with more than 226,000 residents and 20,000 future homes within a 5-mile area.

"Daycares are needed with the high number of families in the immediate area," LaMendola said in the release. "Having a daycare in the Shops at Katy Reserve helps the community and fills perhaps the last tenant category in the center."

Lightbridge Academy offers special programming for children up to 10 years old alongside its early education program. The franchise also recently initiated a school-age remote-learning program.

In addition to the Katy location, the childcare facility is eyeing Cypress, The Woodlands, Atascocita and Pearland, according to the release. www.lightbridgeacademyfranchise.com
