Katy ISD has officially enrolled 80,000 students across its many campuses.
The 80,000th student enrolled at Davidson Elementary School, and the district will celebrate Nov. 9 with a welcome party attended by board of trustee members, superintendents and school administrators, according to a press release.
“Expecting to end the year with an enrollment of 80,000 students, or fairly close to it, Katy Independent School District has reached this monumental milestone two months prior to the end of 2018,” the release states.
The fast-growing school district will open
two new schools for the 2019-2020 school year to accommodate its soaring student population.
Four more schools will open in the next two years.
By 2028, Katy ISD expects to reach a total of about 100,000 students,
based on the latest demographic data presented to the board of trustees Oct. 22.
