Some Katy businesses have started to reopen.

Gov. Greg Abbott announced at an April 27 press conference that retail stores, restaurants, movie theaters and malls across Texas would be allowed to operate with limited occupancy starting May 1. Abbott said he will not extend the statewide stay-at-home order beyond its expiration date on April 30.

Some retailers inside the Katy Mills Mall reopened offering to-go curbside pickup after the governor announced new guidelines April 24. Curbside hours are Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from noon-5 p.m., according to the Katy Mills Mall website.

Retailers include the following:

  • Coach

  • Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse

  • Books A Million

  • Jewelry Box

  • Jewelry Emporium

  • Luxury Beauty Store

  • Rack Room Shoes

  • Finish Line

  • Skechers

  • Vitamin World

Council Member Frank O. Carroll said he looks forward to reopening the economy in the city.

"I'm looking forward to going to see Mr. Ross over at the Katy Mills Mall and doing some shopping over there as we start the economic activity in this city," Carroll said at the April 27 Katy City Council meeting. "I'm just so pleased, and the next phase should be May 18. ... This is just a wonderful time to be in Katy, Texas"

Some restaurants, such as Snappy's Cafe & Grill, will also reopen May 1 from 7 a.m.-2 p.m.

"We are only able to accommodate 30 customers at a time, so we ask for your patience," owner Bobby Katsabas said in a Facebook post. "We will resume normal business hours on May 18. We will still have curbside service and call-in to go until then. We want to thank you for your support during this disruption and, as always, appreciate your business."
