Fort Bend County commissioners approved a nearly $6.59 million contract for the Huggins Drive mobility project at a Nov. 12 meeting.

Zooming in

The project, led by R Construction Civil LLC, will add a center lane to Huggins Drive and will widen and extend the road from Fulshear Katy Road to FM 359, Mark Dessens, program manager and consultant for Fort Bend County Precinct 1, previously told Community Impact.

Additionally the project will add a sidewalk between FM 359 and Fulshear Katy Road, and realign Houston Street and Dixon Road where they intersect with Huggins Drive, he said.

What else?

The project is jointly funded by the city of Fulshear and the November 2013 Fort Bend County voter-approved mobility bond, which outlined $184.9 million for 62 county projects, Dessens said.

Going forward

Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2025 and will wrap up in the first quarter of 2026, Dessens said.
