The background
Katy was awarded the project funds in June 2023 from the Texas General Land Office’s regional mitigation program, which aims to improve street, water and drainage facilities to reduce risks related to hurricanes, tropical storms and depressions, flooding, wind, and other hazards, Community Impact reported.
The federally funded program provides funds to cities to serve low- to moderate-income individuals.
Looking ahead
Construction is slated to begin in early January with conclusion expected in July, City Engineer David Kasper said.
