What’s happening?
At an Oct. 28 meeting, Katy City Council approved a $551,280 design contract with ARKK Engineers LLC for the West Katy Drainage Improvement Project. The project area includes several subdivisions such as Bartlett, Westland Estates and Oman, according to agenda documents.
The capital improvement project is funded by underground infrastructure funds, according to agenda documents.

According to agenda documents, the project aims to improve neighborhood drainage by:
- Installing larger storm sewers
- Installing higher-capacity curb inlets
Looking ahead
The design is expected to take nine months, with bids advertising in July, City Engineer David Kasper said. Construction will commence in September 2025 and will wrap in June 2026.
What else?
Council also approved a $127,110 design contract with ARKK Engineers LLC for Phase 2 of the Village Green West Drainage Improvements Project, which includes larger storm sewer pipes on Village Way Drive and Village Oak Drive, according to agenda documents. Additionally, the project includes new curb inlets and concrete panel replacements.
“I do want to thank our city administrator and the mayor for putting this on the agenda,” mayor pro tem Chris Harris said. “This will complete our next round of post-Harvey recovery projects and ... we do appreciate you finding the money.”
