Why did you choose to run in this election?

I decided to run for Congress because it is time to return to handling the people’s business. Congress has become too partisan. As a councilwoman, I have the experience of voting on issues in a nonpartisan manner. I decided now is the time because we are losing our rights.

What is your top priority if elected?

My top priority is reinstating women’s reproductive rights. Access to reproductive care is a human right. We must ensure access to reproductive health care services which include contraception, prenatal care and safe abortions. Reproductive rights are about bodily autonomy. We as women must be in control of our own bodies.

What do you think are the biggest issues facing residents in District 22?

I think reproductive rights, voting rights, immigration reform, health care costs, jobs and the economy, gun safety, the environment, and education are the biggest issues facing residents in District 22.

Are there any policies that can be passed, or anything Congress can do, to help Texans deal with inflation?

Congress can pass legislation to reduce medical costs, which include premiums and prescription drug costs, to Texas residents. Congress can also pass legislation to provide direct payments or tax credits to residents of Texas for the purchase of energy efficient appliances and clean energy. Both could help to reduce inflation.
