Tenured educators will begin new roles this summer as principals of three Katy ISD schools.

According to three KISD news releases from May 1, the three educators appointed to principal roles are:Digging deeper

Before Brodt’s role at Tompkins, she served as associate principal and assistant principal at other schools, and most recently as principal at Adams Junior High, according to a release. She has 25 years of experience in education.

Brodt replaces Principal Mark Grisdale, according to the KISD website.


Finley, who has more than two decades of experience, has worked his way up from being a KISD teacher to an instructional coordinator, assistant principal and finally principal of the Katy Summer Academic Term, according to a release. He’s replacing Principal Kelly Stroud at McRoberts, according to the KISD website.

Meanwhile, Canales, who replaces Principal Troy Kemp at Jenks, previously served as principal of both Heflin and Best elementaries, according to a release.

Brodt and Finley are set to assume their roles June 3, while Canales will begin the role July 1, according to the releases.
