During its Jan. 22 meeting, the Katy ISD board of trustees unanimously approved the instructional calendar for the 2025-26 school year.

In a nutshell

The 2025-26 school year will begin on Aug. 13, 2025, and end May 15, 2026, for seniors and May 21, 2026, for the remainder of the student population, according to the approved calendar. Holidays during the school year include:

  • Sept. 1, 2025
  • Oct. 13, 2025
  • Nov. 24-28, 2025
  • Dec. 22, 2025-Jan. 2, 2026
  • March 9-13, 2026
  • April 3, 2026

Chief Communications Officer Andrea Grooms said the survey on the two 2025-26 calendar options was administered between Dec. 8-Jan. 8.

“Participants overwhelmingly voted for Option A,” Grooms said during the Jan. 22 meeting. “We had about 11,500 participants; 80% of them voted for that calendar option.”

Grooms said survey participants cited the earlier start date and the earlier end date as why they voted for Option A.
