At a Katy ISD school board meeting Jan. 23, trustees approved the instructional calendar for the 2024-25 school year.

The instructional calendar lists significant dates and events, such as district holidays, grading cycles, teacher orientation days and early dismissals.

Katy ISD will observe Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Martin Luther King Day, Good Friday and Memorial Day. The school district will also continue providing one week off for Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas and New Year’s, as well as one week off for spring break.

Development of the district’s calendar follows weeks of community feedback from more than 16,000 participants within the KISD boundaries, according to a Jan. 23 news release from the district.

Highlights from the 2024-25 calendar include:
  • Aug. 14, 2024: First day of school
  • May 16, 2025: Last day of school for seniors
  • May 22, 2025: Last day of school
In addition, the board of trustees approved minor changes to the 2023-2024 instructional calendar, which affect staff only. These include one new teacher orientation day and changes to flex days for staff in select pay grades.
