Dozier’s BBQ & Meat Market has officially reopened its doors, owners confirmed.

What residents need to know

Dozier’s BBQ & Meat Market is returning to its family roots as the original owner's grandson, Tyler Risinger, takes the reins alongside longtime friend Keith Brochhausen. The restaurant was first opened in 1957 by Ed Dozier, who won first place in the inaugural Houston Livestock & Rodeo Bar-B-Que Cook-off.

Former owners Jim Cummins and Steve Baur closed the restaurant's doors March 30 before the Risingers announced in July they would reopen the Fulshear restaurant.

On the menu

The menu will bring back familiar items including meats, sides, sandwiches and salads as well as a few new tastes, with the biggest change being the addition of a salad bar, Tyler Risinger’s wife, Stacy Risinger, said in a Facebook message.

What else?

The restaurant will host its grand opening on Saturday, Aug. 24 from 6-9 p.m. with live music by Cloud9 on the patio. The venue will remain bring your own bottle until the restaurant receives its liquor license, Stacy Risinger said.
