Katy residents now have a new place to indulge in specialty Asian cuisine with Toyama Sushi & Ramen.

The overview

After growing up helping with her parent’s restaurant in China, Amber He said when she came to the U.S. in 2007, it was fitting she stayed in the industry with the goal of starting her own restaurant.

That goal came true in 2016, when she opened her first restaurant in Corpus Christi before moving to the Katy area. Seeing a lack of local restaurants serving both sushi and ramen, He said she wanted to fill that gap by opening Toyama Sushi & Ramen.

On the menu


The menu features 35 sushi options all made with premium rice, including favorites such as:
  • Katy Garden roll made with shrimp tempura, cucumber, tuna, salmon, snapper, avocado, honey wasabi mayo and eel sauce
  • Houston roll made with yellowtail, tuna, avocado, spicy tuna, spicy salmon, white tuna, jalapeno, mango sauce and eel sauce
  • Shaggy Dog roll made with shrimp tempura, avocado, a crab stick, eel sauce and spicy mayo
Beyond sushi, guests can build their own poke bowls or feast upon rice, noodle and ramen options, including black garlic ramen and spicy curry ramen, He said.

The restaurant also has a number of drink options including sake, beer, wine, milk tea and fruit tea.
