Collectors and enthusiasts will soon be able to scavenge through Lego sets and minifigures in Katy.

The gist

Lego-inspired franchise Bricks & Minifigs will expand its reach to Katy with a new store located on South Mason Road, Katy franchise owner Kevin Gaines said. The store buys, sells and trades Legos as well as offers products such as:
  • New, used and retired Lego sets and minifigures
  • Bulk tables
  • Display stands and cases
  • Other Lego-related items
“At my particular location, I aim to have the best variety and largest selection of minifigures and as many used sets as we can process,” Gaines said. “It is also a goal to process items that come in as quickly as possible so the inventory is updated and different daily.”

The franchise has two other Houston-area locations in Sugar Land and Pearland with three others coming soon to Spring, Cypress and Meyerland, according to the Bricks & Minifigs website.

What else?

Upon its opening, the Katy location will host a grand opening event, where the first 150 people will receive a free custom Lego minifigure inspired by the 1980’s Houston Astros uniform, Gaines said. The event will also feature:
  • Custom displays by the Houston Lego Club
  • Opportunities to build and test creations on the drag race track
  • Costumed characters
  • Giveaways
Additionally, Gaines said he also plans to host special events such as date flights, themed builds and customizable birthday parties.

Another note

Although the Katy location is not yet opened, the store is already looking to build up its inventory through trade-ins, Gaines said. Community members can visit the store on Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to trade-in Legos.
