Those looking to spend time with felines can do so at Cat Haven Lounge in Katy Asian Town.

The gist

The Korean-inspired business—which offers patrons space to work, study or connect with others—is home to up to 50 adoptable cats, lounge supervisor Emily Burton said. Since its opening in late March, the lounge has helped 42 cats be adopted.

Cat Haven Lounge’s temporary residents come from local rescues, including Cuddle Buddies Rescue and Jen's Neonatal Kitten Nursery in Katy. All cats are spayed, neutered and tested for a microchip, Burton said.

“It gives people a good opportunity to come in and see cats' genuine personalities versus being in a small enclosure at a pet store or shelter,” she said. “Everyone’s really relaxed but you get to see the playfulness and more how they interact with kids and how they interact with other cats too.”

How it works

After putting on slippers at the entry and signing a waiver, patrons can relax or interact with the cats for an hour, Burton said. Those older than age 13 pay $20, while ages 3-13 pay $10.

Memberships and student discounts are also available, according to the website.
