Closures on FM 1463 are planned for July 18-21 as part of the Texas Department of Transportation’s project to widen the road, TxDOT officials announced in a July 16 news release.

What’s happening?

The closures will begin at 9 p.m. July 18 and include all northbound and southbound mainlanes of FM-1463 from Flewellen Oaks Lane to Cinco Ranch Blvd, according to the release. The lanes are expected to reopen July 21 at 5 a.m.

Traffic will rerouted with police assistance throughout the closure with detours, including:
  • Northbound traffic will turn right onto S. Fry Road, turn left onto Spring Green Blvd and turn left onto Cinco Ranch Blvd before continuing to FM 1463
  • Southbound traffic will turn left onto Cinco Ranch Blvd, turn right onto Spring Green Blvd and turn right onto S. Fry Road before continuing to FM 1463

Zooming out

The closure is part of a $108.36 million project to expand FM 1463 between Katy and Fulshear by widening almost seven miles of the two-lane road, including some increasing some areas up to six lanes, TxDOT Public Information Officer Danny Perez previously said.

Perez said FM 1463 project highlights include:
  • Widening the road from two to six lanes between I-10 and Spring Green Boulevard
  • Widening the road to four lanes from Spring Green Boulevard to FM 1093
  • Adding a raised median
  • Constructing sidewalks north and southbound along the project length
Work is expected to finish in the second quarter of 2027, with a substantial amount during the fourth quarter of 2026, he said.
