The Katy and Fulshear area has seen several updates to the local hospital systems, including new programs and build-outs.

Here are three updates from local hospitals in the area.

Texas Children's Hospital West Campus

In April 2024, Texas Children's Hospital West Campus reintroduced its Clinic to Same Day Surgery Visit Program aimed at streamlining care for young children between 6 months and 3 years old with recurrent ear infections. The program—which is offered three times a month—combines an ears, nose and throat evaluation with ear tube surgery to limit the number of visits needed, hospital officials said.

Additionally, the hospital will host its second Care of Medically Complex Children for School Nursing course this August, officials said. The six-hour course aims to provide specialized training for school nurses who care for students with gastrostomies, colostomies, urostomies and tracheostomies.

Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital

A new pediatric outpatient rehabilitation clinic is set to open at Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital in September, hospital officials said. The program—staffed by specially trained therapists—will offer personalized rehabilitation for each patient based on each child’s lifestyle, educational and personal needs.

The Katy location will be the first standalone outpatient location, although Memorial Hermann offers pediatric therapy at six other locations in the Greater Houston area.

Houston Methodist West Hospital

Houston Methodist will finish construction later this year on its $62 million comprehensive care center in the Cinco Ranch area.

According to previous reporting, the 65,000-square-foot building will offer:
  • Primary care and same-day clinic appointments
  • Specialized care services such as orthopedics, neurology, gastroenterology, urology and rheumatology
  • Imaging and lab services
  • Physical therapy services
Kyle Stanzel, vice president and chief operating officer of Houston Methodist West Hospital, said the Fulshear center is on track to finish construction by the end of this year and open for patients in the first quarter of 2026.

It will complement the existing Houston Methodist Emergency Care Center north of the property, which opened in 2014, Stanzel said. The center has seen an almost 173% growth in annual emergency room visits from 2020-24, according to hospital data.
