Progress continues on improving the city of Fulshear’s cell service, city officials said.
What’s happening?
At an April 21 meeting, Fulshear City Council approved a specific use permit and lease agreement for the installation of a Verizon antenna within the Pecan Knoll elevated storage tank.
The approval comes as the city continues its multiyear charge to advocate for greater cell coverage after residents have called with concerns about connectivity, which providers say is due to overloaded capacity on existing towers.

Fulshear officials shared the progress of towers as of May 6, with updates from contractors as follows:
- Cross Creek Bend Water Plant: facing internal delay with Verizon
- FM 1093 Water Plant: construction set to commence within a few weeks
- Primrose Park: construction to begin June 13
- Eagle Landing: tower is installed with plans to go online in June
- Pecan Knoll Antenna: waiting on permit application but anticipates being online by end of summer
- Tamarron Water Reclamation Facility: complete and online
- Rogers Road: online

Towers are built and leased out by individual contractors to cell companies, and revenue is shared with the city, City Manager Zach Goodlander previously said. Towers typically lease out space to multiple cell companies.
However, Planning Director Josh Brothers said it’s important for residents to understand that cell service is not a city utility and still has to go through multiple avenues of approval following city permitting.
