The big picture
Fulshear Simonton Fire Department officials gathered June 18 to celebrate the groundbreaking of the department's sixth fire station, located at 3102 Jordan Ranch Blvd., Brookshire.
The station comes as the department's service region's populations continues to grow, department officials said in a June 19 news release.
“What exciting times for your Fulshear Simonton Fire Department as we break ground on our sixth station in Jordan Ranch, which will help us serve a fast-growing community,” Board Treasurer David Melanson said in the release.
The fire department, also known as Fort Bend County Emergency Service District No. 4, serves 106 square miles across north western Fort Bend County including Fulshear, Simonton and Weston Lakes, according to its website.
Zooming in
The $6.8 million project will allow the department to better serve its northern service area, including the city of Fulshear, officials said.
According to the release, the new station will feature:
- Multiple apparatus bays
- A firefighter living quarters
- Training space
- Integrated communications technology
Zooming out
The department also opened a station in Cross Creek Ranch at 8825 W. Cross Creek Bend Lane, Fulshear, last October, Community Impact reported.
Looking ahead
Construction is projected to take 13 months with operations expected to begin at the station shortly after, according to the release.
