The center, located at 5718 Second St., aims to provide a space for visitors and residents alike to explore what all the city of Katy has to offer, including its rich history, Kaci Maris, events, marketing and tourism coordinator, said in an email.

The building, which was previously a fire station, features:

In their own words

“Whether you're a longtime Katyite, new to the area, visiting friends and family, or even stopping by after seeing Katy featured on The Daytripper, the visitor center has something for everyone,” Maris said. Even lifelong residents might learn something new or find a fresh spot to explore. It's not just for tourists—it’s a place to connect with the heart of Katy.”

Zooming out

The center is a part of several projects aimed at enhancing the Historic Town Square area such as constructing City Hall, improving landscaping and green space, and adding murals near the water tower, Community Impact reported.

“[The center] adds a welcoming and informative touch to the newly renovated town square and serves as a central hub that connects everything happening downtown,” Maris said.

Looking ahead

The center opened to the public May 22 and will be open Thursdays through Sundays, Maris said.
