The big picture
The commission—which was approved by Fulshear City Council on May 20—aims to provide students with opportunities to participate in civic engagement, community service projects, and enhance the city’s policies and decision-making, Communications Coordinator Mariah Gallegos said.
The commission will be made of seven eligible students who will serve on the board this September through next June, she said. Eligible students must be Fulshear residents and be going into 10th through 12th grade at the time of application.

Notable quote
"We understand the importance of investing in our youth,” Gallegos said. “We truly enjoyed the internship program we kicked off last year and wanted to build upon that for other students who call Fulshear home. We're really excited to get the opportunity to hear them, learn from them, and encourage them to get involved and stay involved in local government.”
Moving forward
Applications opened on the city’s website May 21 with a July 25 deadline, Gallegos said. Applicants can email completed paperwork to [email protected] to the Fulshear Municipal Complex, located at 6611 W. Cross Creek Bend Lane.
City Council will appoint members of the commission in August, she said.
