The gist
The program, called Council Connects, was developed by the city’s communication team to provide an avenue for constituents to have conversations with elected city officials, Communications Coordinator Mariah Gallegos said in an email.
“The purpose is to support council members in a setting within their district, and takes them directly to their constituents for conversation,” she said in the email. “Fulshear was recently rated the second-fastest growing city in the country, and we know this comes with questions, concerns and a great deal of responsibility. We want to ensure we are keeping an open line of communication to keep the conversation going both ways.”
Zooming in
The come-and-go monthly conversation schedule will depend on council members’ availability, although the events will be announced in advance, Gallegos said. The meet-ups will be hosted in their respective City Council districts, and residents are invited to attend as many as they would like.
“We feel these connects will provide an informal place where residents can ask questions and receive immediate feedback,” she said in the email. “Our efforts are to ensure our residents never feel left out of conversations that impact them.”
Looking ahead
Newly-elected District 4 council member Richard Russell—who replaces Joel Patterson—will kick off the program May 27 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at L3 Craft Coffee, located at 28830 FM 1093, Ste. 110, Fulshear.
Future events will be posted on the city’s social media and website, Gallegos said.
