The Fort Bend County Chamber of Commerce announced the upcoming "For the Love of Paws" event to raise awareness for stray cats and dogs by supporting local animal shelters.

Hosted by Alings Chinese Bistro in collaboration with the Homeless Pet Placement League, the event promises an evening of fun and charity for animal lovers of all ages.

The details

"For the Love of Paws" will take place July 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Alings Chinese Bistro located at 6542 Hwy. 90 in Sugar Land.

Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a pet cookies baking class, where they can learn to make treats from scratch for their furry friends. Homemade pet cookies will also be available for purchase "with all proceeds going towards finding loving homes for animals in need," according to a Fort Bend County email.

Face painting, appetizers and soft drinks will also be available for attendees.

Get involved

By attending the "For the Love of Paws" event, individuals can show their support for local animal shelters and stray pets through charitable donations or volunteer opportunities.

Event organizer Eileen Akerson encourages potential attendees to RSVP by phone at 361-212-2014 or via email at [email protected]. For further inquiries, readers can also contact Alings Chinese Bistro for RSVP at [email protected].

This event comes at a crucial time considering the capacity and infrastructure issues that have occurred throughout the past year with Sugar Land Animal Services.
