Katy ISD Nutrition and Food Services will be serving free breakfast and lunch for children, aged 18 or younger, and adults with disabilities up to 21 years old throughout the summer.

“Our summer food service is always popular with the community, and it is our pleasure to provide this service to families,” Donna Pittenger, executive director of Nutrition and Food Services, said in a May 29 news release.

What you need to know

Select KISD campuses will offer the summer meals at eight locations from late May through the end of July, according to the release.

The meals—which must be eaten inside the school’s cafeteria—are available to all children of 18 and under who live within Katy ISD boundaries, regardless of enrollment, district officials confirmed. No application, identification or registration is required.


Parents can also purchase a breakfast for $3.50 for lunch for $5.


Something to note

According to the release, there will be no service from June 30 to July 4 at:
  • Opportunity Awareness Center
  • Mayde Creek High School
  • Morton Ranch High School
  • Paetow High School
During the closure, students can get meals at other KISD locations or find participating meal sites statewide by:Looking forward

The program launched May 27 at the Opportunity Awareness Center, followed by meal availability at Faldyn, Franz and Memorial Parkway elementary schools on May 29, per the release.


The three participating high schools launched June 2.
