The Fort Bend Independent School District closed on a plot of land in Harvest Green, marking a milestone in the development of a new elementary school—the district's 55th overall.

The details

The new school will occupy approximately 16 acres along Harlem Road, just south of Harvest Green Boulevard. According to a news release, it is set to become the fourth Fort Bend ISD school within the Harvest Green community, with the district anticipating a grand opening in August 2026.

Harvest Green is a master-planned community in Fort Bend County located near Grand Parkway and West Airport Boulevard. The new community offers a variety of amenities, including a village farm, parks, playgrounds, a resort-style pool with clubhouse, splash pad, fitness center, dog park, and tennis and volleyball courts.

The cost

The new elementary school will cater to the needs of around 1,000 students and is expected to require a budget exceeding $46 million. Funding for the school is part of the larger $1.26 billion bond program, which received approval in May, according to the release.

In their own words

David Hogue, vice president and general manager of Harvest Green, expressed excitement about the school's proximity to residential areas, saying, "Homes are selling fast in this new section of Harvest Green, so we're excited that homeowners will have an elementary within walking and biking distance. Having kindergarten through 12th grade campuses in the community was certainly part of the appeal of Harvest Green from the start."
