Texas Borders Bar & Grill will open a third location in Cane Island this summer.

The big picture

The eatery will take over the former The Oaks Kitchen and Bar space, according to a May 24 news release. Texas Borders Bar & Grill, founded by New Orleans native Kellie Messer in 1996, has two existing locations at:
  • 1251 Pin Oak Road, Ste. 141, Katy
  • 26440 FM 1093 Rd, St. 400, Richmond
“We're bringing more than a restaurant to Cane Island—we're bringing a full experience,” Messer said in the release. “This community is the perfect match for our family-forward, fun loving culture.” We're excited to bring our food, energy and community spirit to this beautiful neighborhood.”

On the menu

The menu features Cajun, American and Tex-Mex cuisine including various pastas, wings, burgers, quesadillas and seafood dishes, according to its website.


Some menu specialties include:
  • Jo’s spicy gumbo
  • Cajun shrimp boil
  • Blackened chicken quesadilla
  • Ultimate mushroom burger
  • Baja tacos
Additionally, the new location will host kids events, live music, crawfish boils, and wine and whiskey tastings, per the release.
